Referring to the second paragraph of my minute of

the 4th April addressed to Mr. A. Bevir under the above reference,

I perhaps ought to add, in regard to Mr. Gilbert Ledward's

qualifications, that he is in rather a unique position to execute

the commission, in that H. M. King George VI, recently gave him

several sittings for a bust, of which I now enclose 3 photographs.

If Mr. Ledward were entrusted with the work, it would therefore

not be necessary to arrange for any sittings from His Majesty

before he leaves for Canada, as would be the case with other sculptors.
